A. Lange & Sohne 206.029 wrist watches news:
Ignore the first 30-60 seconds of this film, it gets really cool after that. I love watching stuff like this because it actually does a very good job at showing you how watches are made at houses like Audemars Piguet. Yes, you need to know what to look for, but pay attention to the tools and techniques used to polish and decorate the movements. This process literally takes up most of the time in watch movement assembly. While the film is supposed to take place in the 19th century (even though some of the stuff looks really modern), the same process is used today to make high-end luxury watch movements. Take the hand-spun machine that spins the movement plate around, today it is just done with machines but that are more often than not still controlled by a human operator. There are no automatic decoration or finishing processes for this level of watch making - just good ol' manual processes to give it that unique human touch.Enough of my intro, check the clip of this "corporate movie" a
So I've been in talks with an AD and they have the Omega I want.OMEGA Watches: Speedmaster Professional "Moonwatch" - Steel on steel - 3570.50.00They said MSRP is $4050 but they can take off up to 35% off but didn't elaborate on that much. Would it be wasting mine and their time to make an offer of $3000 tax included for it? Or is this the sort of thing you have to wait until there is a sale?
This one , just in.....
By this time last year, I'd purchased way more than a dozen watches - and added about four or five more by the end of the year.So far in 2008, I've gotten two new watches, but only bought one. I took delivery of my Watch Talk Forums LE in January or Feb. but paid for it in 2007, so to me it doesn't count as a 2008 purchase. My only 2008 purchase has been a Clerc CX Scuba, which I have wanted for many, many years.I've come close to buying several others this year, but for one reason or another couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. For me, the economy isn't a factor - thankfully. I'm just sorting out my collection's direction. What about you?
