For a guy who is generally revered by some of the most well-funded watch collectors in the world, Mr. Philippe Dufour is a pretty humble and approachable guy. It isn't that he doesn't have an ego ¨C everyone with the ability to admire the fruits of their own work clearly has an understanding of exactly how good they are ¨C but rather that Mr. Dufour is an advocate of hard work and dedication above all else (including how people perceive him). In fact, I would suggest that having a waiting list of orders a few years long and being able to politely say "no" to new requests makes having an ego totally unnecessary. WellI've never purchased a watch for more than $300 (I have some really nice pieces but I've never spent much). I think I want to start saving for a new watch but I want it to be one that I can wear every day of my life. I don't know if I want a big diver or a dress watch or something in between. I always talk about how much I love Maurice Lacroix watches but sadly I don't see many of them purchased.I have a growing vintage collection but I think modern sizes fit my abnormally large arms. I think I would like to spend less than $2000 (used is an option).What I've been looking at is a brand that has good recognition and is renowned for high quality, and accuracy. I think in this price range I should have a chronometer certified watch. I HATE chronographs but I love fancy complications and after owning a Boschett Reef Ranger I am pretty interested in simple designs toopanies I've been looking at tonight: Maurice Lacroix, Ball Watch Co. Looking At a Cyma
I was at my favorite jeweler this weekend; my typical salesman knowing I am a watch geek showed me a limited edition Cyma (shown below) the edition I saw had a stainless bracelet and was a great looking watch. the movement is said to be all Cyma and is a COSC certified automatic. I gave my wife a quartz Cyma years ago and it has been rock solid. Anyone know more about their automatic movements? the Cyma website is of no help just curious. Swapped out the aftermarket dial on my 16013. Love the outcome!
I never had experience with aftermarket dials. I ended up purchasing a Rolex with an aftermarket mother of pearl dial which i personally actually liked. After receiving feedback from a few forums and noticing that the aftermarket dial actually slightly covered the date numbers through the date window, i decided to swap out the face with an authentic Rolex dial. I couldn't be happier with the outcome
