Affordable Vintage: Zodiac Sea Wolf
Zodiac launched the Sea Wolf divers watch in 1953. When it was a featured at the Swiss Watch Pavilion at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York, it really gained in popularity. The Sea Wolf featured the caliber 70-72 automatic movement that was a collaboration between ETA and A. Schild. The first model did not hack, but shortly after its debut they added a hacking mechanism. It featured a newly designed snap on case back w/gasket that they labeled as “20 ATM. Especially Water Tested”. My brand-new Seamaster Professional was running 10 seconds fast a day. I took it to the Omega service center in Toronto, and 20 minutes later I had a watch that gained only 1 - 2 seconds a day. I think +2 seconds a day is quite acceptable. But, yes, the dealer is using a dodge. You paid for COSC standards, and that's what you should get!

My First Watch of the New Year
Recieved my first new watch for the year. I knocked off one for my 2013 list, the Orient Bambino. I think it's a beautiful watch and already owning a couple of their divers, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I love the retro sixties and seventies styles that are bring introduced now. I purchased a Tissot Visodate and a Rotary Les Originales last year and own several from the two previously mentioned decades as well.

I reacquainted myself with an old friend today, my F series ROO Safari. I do really like this watch, but I find it very hard to choose it ahead of my Rolex selection. I really like the off white creamy dial, not always easy to capture in pictures.
