The quest for my first vintage Omega began as search for a "project watch" that was in rough shape, & could be ressurected. The case was really beaten up & had to be polished pretty severely (some scratches can still be seen on the back) & I think that it may have been redialed a long time ago, but I didn't do this for investment or resale. I have been thinking about my next purchase for a while and out of a number of choices (JLC master calendar, Breguet black dial marine big date and Breguet Type XXI) I think I have decided upon the Breguet Type XXI. I have been offered a used, perfectly conditioned, recently serviced, two year warranty, full box and papers watch for 50% current retail. Looking on Chrono 24 I can only find one watch for this kind of price and every other at a much higher ticket.But what has really sold me is the amount of 'watch' you get for the money. It's a GMT, Chronograph, flyback, date, with three sub dials from one of the top 5 watchmakers in the world. All for about ��4,000 (including 20% UK tax). Furthermore the watch is so much more stunning in the metal than in the photographs. Can anyone put me off buying a ridiculous 14th watch? (Picture below from the net).
