I watched The Color of Money last night and when I saw Paul Newman, I remembered how he sported Rolexes in real life. Well, early on in the movie I noticed he was wearing a watch with a Jubilee bracelet and wondered if it might be a DJ. Looking at getting my first manual wind Patek
I would like to buy a simple but classic Patek and I am leaning towards the 5196.The watch would be mainly for wearing in the evenings and at weekends, so having a date is not essential.I would be most grateful for your valued opinions on this or any other Patek, including a vintage piece that would fit this criteria.Thank you for any advise that you can provide.

Strap change for my BP
I saw so many beautiful pictures from BP's on Buffalo straps that I decided to get one for my 5004 too. It arrived today and I swapped straps during my lunch break. Since I left the Bergeon 6767 tool at home, the IWC Watchmakers knife came in very handy Here are the pictures, I hope you like them.The strap is still a bit stiff but I am sure this will change quickly.Kind regards,Cinq

I'll try to make this short, but it does require some backstory.My grandfather was a great guy, and loved a good bet. In 1960, he took a bet with a friend, for, you guessed it--the outcome of the Presidential election. The loser would have to buy the winner this Omega Seamaster, which they had both seen in the window of a local jeweler. Upon Kennedy's election, my grandfather received the watch and wore it in good health for many years.After he passed away, it was handed down to my father, who also wore it regularly. Unfortunately, the caseback began having problems--the gold was literally wearing away. Over the years he took it several times to a jeweler, who told him it had to do with the pH of his skin (no idea if this is true), and he (the jeweler) would fill the caseback with new gold on occasion.When my father passed away in the early 2000's, the watch came to me. I didn't do anything with it for a while (the caseback literally has a hole worn in it) but eventually took it to a r
