Perrelet Seacraft Watches Hands-On
At Basel 2011 I was surprised to see these new dive watches from Perrelet. The brand has recently focused a lot on formal and sport so I should have expected a good diver, however, I never saw these coming. The Seacraft collection is interesting and appealing though parts of the designs seem to be influenced from elsewhere. My biggest question is how much Perrelet paid SeaCraft boats to use the name? Personally, I don't think about boats when I hear the name, I actually think about Star Craft.There are three watches in the Seacraft collection and each comes with three different dial colors (black, white, or blue). A nice matching alligator strap option is also available for each of the watches. The colors are bold and so are the styles. I like the pieces overall but feel that Perrelet possibly could have gone further to make the watches more distinct. Plus, aside from the lugs and Perrelet logo on the dial, there isn't much about the watches that says "Perrelet."Despite these facts, th

Movement Collecting
One of the problems constantly plaguing the pocket watch collector-and probably to a lesser extent the wristwatch collector is that of the overabundance of uncased movements. Tens of thousands of gold cases have been scrapped over the years, and with recent gold and silver rushes, even some silver and gold filled cases are finding their way into the melting pots. "Standard" sized high grade movements that lose their cases often find their way into good condition gold filled or silver cases that come from lower grade movements, leading to a glut of low-grade movements in these sizes. Many of the watches I collect, however, are not "standard" sized and their are lot large numbers of lower-grade watches to provide cases for these movements. Thus, I, and many, many other American pocket watch collects choose to collect uncased movements. I have quite a few very nice movements that I know I'm unlikely to ever find cases for. hi guys, in looking at the oris diver date, and i really like it, but i need your help first.this is the model i like, black or bluei love divers, and big watches, i need to see some pics, wrist shots and info.owners experience, and info of the movt, and the size [the most important thing]the lume is important to me too.some pics compared to any invicta will help a loti never owned an oris, so please, tell me about the fit and finish of this watches. still they look solid to me,thanks guys.

Establishing yourself with a distant Patek AD/Long Distance relationships
So there are no local Patek ADs for me, I have to get on a plane or drive 10-12 hours. I have contacted 3 of the Canadian Patek ADs and received a response from 2, only one of which actually answered any of my questions and was polite and friendly. The issue is they are in Alberta and I am in Nova Scotia, so about a 7 hour flight. The guy I was talking to mentioned I would be able to put a deposit down to get on a waiting list for a watch (I want a 5167A) but to make the purchase I would need to come in, in person. Which wouldn't be a big deal.My question is, does anyone else travel to deal with their established AD, aside from the time and travel costs are there any cons to doing so? Do they allow you to ship them your watch for service? This is one thing I will need to confirm as when looking into the Vacheron overseas, their closest AD said I could not ship my watch to them for them to service and I would need to fly there and deliver it in person for every issue and service.

Does anybody know approximately how many turns it takes to wind a 324 from a complete stop?
