Omega Maquinaria 8 wrist watches news:
It seems a little slow on the WTF lately....figured I would throw out a question that I have pondered on occasion. If you could have dinner with one person (past or present) from the world of watches who would it be and why?For me it used to be H. Wilsdorf for obvious reasons. But I would say it has become Patrick Heiniger. I am curious what could possibly have happened to cause him to give up his and his family's legacy at the head of Rolex. Aside from being one of only 3 people (and the only one still alive) to ever lead Rolex until his aforementioned exit, I would love to discuss his vertical integration strategy - which I believe was a stroke of genius in the prelude to the recent economic crisis and watch industry contraction. Despite the rumors regarding Rolex's financial condition, I believe his foresight positioned Rolex to weather the storm and emerge stronger than ever on the other side.-Ross
I have a propensity to scratch the hell out of watch bracelets. I have a desk job and take it off when I use my keyboard. Already, since Sunday, I have noticed a few light scratches on the clasp. *eeek*I do know that I could take my SMP back to my jeweller and have them "refinish" or "buff-out" the wears and tears from time to time, but a timepiece of this magnitude ($$$) seems to me that one would be overly cautious not to damage it in any way, shape or form. Are you all extremely cautious when it comes to not scratching the clasp/bracelet? Or, is this inevitable and beyond my control not to scratch it? Do you just gather a fair amount of wear and tear and take it to the jeweller once, twice, three times a year for a good polishing?Am I obsessive about this too much?
I was out for a drive on Saturday when I noticed a clock on a building. I probably would not have paid attention to it if the building had not been a Lotus dealership. The clock read 4 o'clock. I look at my new Trent. It read 2 o'clock. That's odd, I thought. The Lotus dealership was two hours off. I look at my car's clock. It read 4 o'clock. I had been wearing my watch since the morning. The best theory I could come up with is that my watch ran down approximately two hours before I put it on in the morning and it started running again as I moved around. If it had been a fraction of an hour off, it would have been more obvious. This morning was the first time I put the watch in my winder. I will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't stop again, unless I specifically let it run down.
I'm looking to get one of the Movado Fiero Tungsten watches..Model # 605621, but I want to make sure I'm not getting a replica online.
