Panerai Panerai 50208 wrist watches news:
My Rose Gold poll got me thinking. Here's some info from jewelrymaker. Rose gold is also the hardest of the alloys:Composition of Gold AlloysWhen you buy gold jewelry, it isn't pure gold. Your gold is really an alloy, or mixture of metals. The purity or fineness of gold in the jewelry is indicated by its karat number. 24 karat (24K or 24 kt) gold is as pure as gold for jewelry gets. 24K gold is also called fine gold and it is greater than 99.7% pure gold. Proof gold is even finer, with over 99.95% purity, but it is only used for standardization purposes and is not available for jewelry. So, what are the metals that are alloyed with gold? Gold will form alloys with most metals, but for jewelry, the most common alloying metals are silver, copper, and zinc. However, other metals may be added, especially to make colored gold. Here's a table of the compositions of some common gold alloys:Color of GoldAlloy CompositionYellow Gold (22K) Gold 91.67%Silver 5%Copper 2%Zinc 1.33%Red Gold (18K) Gol
If you had to pick one brand, which one would it be - Rolex or Patek Philippe? Our poll results are a bit surprising - one brand is running away with it! Click here to vote and see the results! Our vote - Rolex - better overall variety of sport watches and dress watches. Although it's tough to vote against the quality and elegance of Patek (not to mention some of the amazing complications!)
Hi guysSome of you will remember that I put a collection strategy together a couple of years ago, and it's nearly complete. Today, another piece of the jigsaw arrived in the shape of the Royal Oak 15450.When choosing which Royal Oak to get, I spent a vast amount of time looking at size comparisons, and I'm glad to report I made the right choice! My wrists are 6.5 so not very big, so I was torn between 37mm and 39mm but the 37mm is perfect for me.As I really like the way the Daytona wears, I spent a lot of time looking for comparisons on the wrist between the Daytona and the 15450. So, I thought others may be in the same boat and it would be useful to share a couple of photos. The bottom line is that they both wear differently, but both work for me brilliantly, and people should forget the stigma attached to the 37mm!
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has fitted their Speedmaster with one of the new adjustable clasps from omega. My understanding is that they are made for the PO, but would still fit a modern speedy bracelet. Is this correct? If so, what parts do you need? Many thanks.
I just bought an X33 Solar Impulse, and there seems to be very little buzz about this watch on the various Omega forums. I realize the high-end Quartz is a niche market, but with the Omega NASA history I would have thought a new moon watch would get more attention. When I moved to Houston one of the first places I visited was NASA, and that was right when the original X33 came out, and there was a huge X33 on display, and it really stuck with me. I'm happy to see that they've moved forward with that series.
