Sinn 240 ST Review
Last year at Basel World, Sinn announced a handful of curious and unexpected watches, from the diving-pilot's EZM 3F to the cleverly vintage 903 ST B E. But perhaps the most surprising was the 240 ST. Utilizing a case that dates back to at least the 80's, this barrel shaped tool-pilot is both new and a throwback. For those familiar with Sinn's line and history, you'll immediately note that the case comes from the revered 140/142 chronographs. Originally powered by the Lemania 5100, these rugged chronos are collector's pieces not just for their style, but also for their historical significance. As discussed in this article here, the 140/142s were, for a time, considered to be the first automatic chronographs worn in space. Sinn has since reissued those watches with their in-house modified Valjoux 7750 movement, the SZ01 and packed them full of their in-house tech. Bought my first vintage...
Hello WTF members,I've been a "new watch guy" for many years and have graduated up to Rolexes as my preferred daily wrist attire. But during the past year or so, I've become very interested in vintage timepieces. The idea of all that history in a wrist watch appeals to me; perhaps not as something I would necessarily wear all that often, but just a fascinating item to own.So I've been following the auctions during this time and have discovered my personal favorites time and time again tend to be early 1900 skeleton watches by companies such as Omega, Longines, etc. I finally bit the bullet on one and can't wait for it to arrive. The auction description is as follows: "1906 Omega Skeleton Wristwatch with original engraved dial and 5 jewel mechanism. This Omega Yellow Gold tone skeleton is a collectible antique timepiece. Black 116520 and SS Skydweller or WG BLRO
I've only had 1 watch in the past 8 years, the 116520. I 've been wearing it almost everyday. Now there's an itch I have to scratch. I can either trade in the Daytona+Cash for a pre owned WG BLRO or add a SkyD to my collection of 1. My rationale for the BLRO is that I can only wear 1 watch at a time, so might as well go all in. Daytona and SkyD, I don't have to let go of my Daytona.I understand that there's a significant price difference between the 2 options, but I'm willing to save more (and wait more). I'm interested on your opinions. Cheers!
