Do you think this can harm anything ?
I accidently noticed that a magnet placed on the watch-back at the 8 o'clock position will stop the watch. It's a nice way to stop the watch to allow time to catch-up to correct time without have to pull stem and reset and wait to click back in place. I noticed it when I read that the new parachrome spring is un-affected by magnets. I put a magnet to my 2005 sub, and it stopped. I tried it on my new GMTIIc and it also stopped. ?? While confused why the new GMT with a parachome spring would stop, it didn't bother me too much. I am now wondering....Am I magnetizing the mechanical wheel and spring? Could this affect the watch in the long-run? Any thoughts or opinions from you guys? Bob

Thinking of a Pam, seeking input please
I'm considering the purchase of my first Pam. Heck, to say I'm new to the brand is an understatement. Want proof? I'm not even sure if describing the watches I'm looking at as "Pam" is accurate. I mean, I'm still a bit unclear on what that moniker is derived from. Is it meant to describe all of their watches broadly, or a particular model line?In any case, I shall press on! :DI'm looking at the following watches and wanted some input from the august crowd on hand here.Option 1 is a Panerai Radiomir (Am I correct that this is a 210?):Option 2 is a Panerai Luminor Base:No idea what that logo on this second watch is. Looks to my eye to be a stylized "GP", but I can't really tell from the images on the site.I'm ot really sure what the main differences are between these two model sof watch, other than the obvious style differences. I must love a brand before buying a piece. BR have always been about military/professional spec pieces which are simple, legible, functional, and robust. The good people at STS sent my watch back this week, I have been wearing it for 2 days, time keeping is bang on and it looks great!Despite its bulk, it is very comfy with the flat case back and left hand crown. I know some people see it as pig ugly, but I like the way it is all purpose. It kind of reminds me of a Land Rover Defender, no frills, no design touches, just all purpose.The dial is actually a very dark blue.Here are some quick pics, will take better ones soon-
