Philip Stein 1DBCBABS wrist watches news:
Ralph Lauren is a person of many paradoxes – a man whose career has spanned many decades; a man who almost single-handedly created a uniquely American, but also very cosmopolitan, design language rooted in an aspirational vision of European luxury and history; a man who has managed to absorb with equal enthusiasm influences as disparate as the design language and passion for richness of materials of the Art Deco era, the world of equestrian sports, the automotive world, and that of Western work apparel – and that’s far from a comprehensive list. He’s one of the most publicly recognized names in fashion, style and design and yet, at the same time, he’s very protective of his own privacy and that of his family, seldom granting interviews. A few years ago, a friend of his who is also notoriously publicity averse, and who shares Mr. Lauren’s general dislike of being personally covered in the press, got together with him to make a lifelong dream of
Some of you may recall that I installed a Thomas Preik display back on my Explorer II. There was no problem with it other than it changed the way the watch sat on my wrist. It was not as comfortable as the original. And as the Rolex movements are not as nicely finished as most other watches, I sold the back and restored the original steel back. With the money from the sale, I ordered another display back from Thomas for my 2254.50 SMP. In error, he sent a back for a mid-size SMP. I notified him of the mistake and he immediately sent me the correct back. I returned the mid-size back to him.I installed the correct back myself and later took it to my watchmaker for pressure testing. It failed miserably. The Preik back was a half mm larger in diameter which prevented the back from sealing properly. My watchmaker offered to reduce the diameter with his lathe for a proper fit but I wanted to consult with Thomas before letting him do the work.I have now emailed Thomas four times (begi
I want to a PAM 000. What is the mark up on Panerais? Does anyone know the dealer cost on these watches? I have called around to different AD on a PAM 000 and was offered 10% at the best with free shipping or no deals from some stores. Does anyone know of a good place that is willing to give a discount? My AD will not give any discounts but only a extra strap. What is the mark up on these PAMs? Meaning what is the dealer cost? I just want to know for bargining purposes?Mike
Flippers like me have only months of ownership on most watches. Some of you have owned a watch for many years. Which watch has been in your collection the longest?
I have heard this from 3 different AD's now... Two in Europe and one in Asia + I have heard via an asian contact that it has also been confirmed from other AD's in this area... Anyone else heard similar rumors?
