New Options for the Calibre de Cartier
Last year Cartier launched the Calibre de Cartier line powered by the brand’s in-house 1904-PS movement. The watch represented an important step for the brand. Despite the clearly sporty aesthetics, the Calibre de Cartier was available only on a strap. At SIHH 2011, a new and decidedly more sporting version debuted on a bracelet. Find pricing inside. The new models are available in stainless steel with black or silver dial, and in 18K rose gold and stainless steel with a silver dial. The bracelets feature wide polished center links and thinner brushed outer links with a deployant-style folding clasp. At 42mm x 10mm, the case dimensions have not changed. My Titanium SMP 300M Chrono Diver
Back in March 7th of this year, I traded in my used (6 months old) titanium SMP 300M Chronometer [2231.50] black waved dial for a new titanium SMP 300M Chronograph black dial with sword hands [2293.52] at Tourneau, NV.Here is a quick comparison: SMP 300M [2231.50] - bullet-proof movement (1120)- low profile thickness- extremely light and very comfortable to wear- perfect weight proportion of case & bracelet- +4 seconds advancement daily- tends to scratches easily SMP 300M Chrono [2293.52] - complicated movement (3301)- case is slightly thicker- still quite light compared to SS model and also very comfortable to wear- great weight proportion of case & bracelet (slightly wider)- +1 second advancement daily- great scratch resistanceWell, after a 24/7 wear period of over two months, the inevitable had occurred. New Day Date & Stick/Lume question
Took me a while to get round to it, but finally posting about a new (BNIB with stickers) day date I acquired at the end of last year. It's a white gold 118209 that I'd wanted for a while, and had to give up my 3-watch SS rolex collection to get it (together more cash than I would have liked to make up the difference) but absolutely no regrets so far, and it's a watch I hope to wear for very long while. It's from around 2008 so has the newer bracelet/engraved rehaut but when I decided to change out the dial from silver to black, I ended up going with with the older stick/baton dial design, rather than the newer dials that have lume as markers. This may seem an odd choice to some but I had a old 5 digit datejust for about 10 years and there's something I really like about the classic/timeless style of the old stick dials, and also given the watch itself is white gold I though why not be consistent. Saying that I do like the presence/stronger impact of the lume on the newer dials too. J
