My Father bought a Seamaster in the early 60's and wore it for everything. He was an engineer, mechanic, garage tinkerer, and horsman.. After a couple decades of hard use, he gave it to me, and I put another couple of decades of hard use on it as my beater watch. It was the garage, yardwork, fool-around watch until I lost the stem several years back.This is how it looked about 6 months ago:I sent it off with instructions to just give the case, dial, and hands a good cleaning; and overhaul the movement as necessary.This is how it looks today:A new stem, crown, and cleaned up dial and hands:The fresh Omega signed crystal is a joy to look through:The case has been cleaned up, but no polishing or removal of the already well worn 14k Gold:A new Omega Calf Leather strap and gold buckle:The 560 movement was completely disassembled, worn parts replaced and fresh oil:(file photo)The date change started at about 10:30, and changed completely by 12:15:I think it's earned a rest, at least from

Darken the color of a crown
I have a vintage Omega gold plated with a newer crown that has a lighter hue. Are there ways I can darken it ? Some sort of artificial aging ?

First Visit
Of all the memorable days lately (granddaughters, trials and tribulatiions) yesterday was great. After getting fitted for my brand new Ford E 150, and before having dinner at the Carnegie Diner to complete sampling corn beef from all the famous places in NY, guess where I went? Yep Tourneau on 57th St. WOW. So I tried on my first choice of must have's, the PP 3738P. I was in awe, as it wears much larger than I thought it would as I have an 8" wrist. So simple in its design but it is so elegant yet you can wear it with blue jeans. Next what caught my eye was the PP Nautilus 5711J. Just gorgeous in a brown strap, the dial, beautiful. I have to rethink my second purchase which was going to be a complicated JL.The store was almost empty, so I roamed around and spoke to an associate on the upper level for quite some time and he showed me some amazing pieces including a JL that flipped to another time zone on the back! need some quick advice
I was thinking about buying thisis 450.00 to high?its a 1966

5970P v 5270P (yet to be announced...)
So as some of you know through private pm or personally knowing me I sold my 5970G and 'upgraded' to a 5970P. Being that I've given up on finding a J 5970 and have no interested in a 5970R what are your thoughts of trying to acquire a 5270P in addition to the 5970P once it's announced? I'm hoping the new 5270P will have the exact same dial as the 5271P we saw at basel this year. My plan was originally to save for a 5004P black baton over a few years but I'm sort of on this kick of wanting to have some of the new technically superior in house movements patek is making. Though I love that new black 5204P I can't get over the upside moonphase....I know I know it's a small thing but it really does bother me (same reason I just can't get one of those gorgeous 5396G tiffany's with the breguet numerals)...I love astronomy and I'm sorry but the moon and stars are in the sky....not on the ground.
