With the competition out there for the luxury buyer, watches don't always just sell themselves, even if they are really beautiful. Sometimes a bad sell can cast an pale yellow light on an otherwise excellent timepiece. Let me tell you what is wrong with this approach:The Good:It is a video, and it shows the watch clean and from most angles. It has accurate information (if you care to listen). Oh, and the video actually plays and is accessible on YouTube (not that watch buyers are going there). Video selling is really powerful. Not only can you get the attention of lots of potential buyers, but you can show off the watch in its natural environment (on a wrist), and in reference to a human for size of the watch. These are good things, but you can ruin a video with bad production value, an "anemic" host, and an amateur presentation of the watch.The Bad:Who is this guy? Is he Gray? Is he one of the "sons?" Seiko Spirit GMT SBQJ015
What is the going rate for the Seiko Spirit GMT SBQJ015 these days? Normally I'd check auction sites, but this model appears to be harder to come by. I've got one in excellent condition, short of a slight blemish just below the 31 minute mark (see photo). It's also got the box, case, manuals, band links, and certificate. Just got it back from SCA where they replaced the battery and back. The original back got scratched very badly during a botched battery replacement; don't try this at home (Seiko sent the original back with the repair as a reminder). Only considering selling it at this point depending on market value. I'm genuinely not trying to tease people on this since I know some are seeking this watch; just trying to get more info. To Engrave or Not..?
Recently purchased a DateJust 41mm and I¡¯ve been pondering getting it engraved, however just like a lot of things not sure how I will feel about it in 5,10 or 20 years for that matter. Plus if I would sell or trade etc: would it be worth less. Any experience in having engraved then not being happy about it. I¡¯d like to but I¡¯m not completely sold on doing so.
