If anyone happens to notice the new Time magazine Special Issue titled Special Ops, I highly recommend purchasing it if the subject interests you.While flipping through it at the checkout today the chapter that really held my attention focused on Delta Force or 1st SFOD-Delta. This unit has fascinated me more than other units in SO because of how they came to be, what they do and how they do it. Some of this is touched on in that chapter. Anyway what struck my eye was what Col. Charlie Beckwith, Delta Force founder, was wearing. In the following pictures it appears to be a Submariner on a strap. 1680 perhaps? The image is not clear and my camera macro feature shot the best it could.From a different angle.You can clearly observe the classic Sub dial with the 12:00 marker above a tiny dot (Rolex crown?), and text beneath the hands.
