Ulysse Nardin 2080-115 wrist watches news:
I showed one of the dealer's photos in the November Incomings thread; I just received this amazing watch today. It's from ca. 1948 by the SN and movement caliber (P484) and measures 35.7 mm across (ex-crown) and 44.5 mm from lug-to-lug. I suffer from presbyopia (like many of my age LOL), so am glad I am getting a new prescription for progressives the writing is getting on the small side for my tired eyes. I haven't removed the case back myself (I would let my watchmaker remove this very tight snap back), so the movement and case back photos are from the dealer. The top right-sided pusher is for the month; the bottom one for the date. One should not advance these while the time is set between 10-2 o'clock (someone please explain to me why, but that is what I understand). The day of the week is slow-set. It's a bit complex to set, but I've got the hang of it already.
Debating a new watch. Wife says no more high dollar deals. Looking at a Ritmo Indy Chrono or a Tag F1 Chrono. I already bought the Tag F1 but had to return it after 48hrs. It quit. So should I buy another? Or id the Ritmo a good watch?....Or something else...I need to be able to swim with it, not dive just the pool, rafting and fishing.
I love the Bentley motors and Navitimer world watch with the white faces. I have 3 rolex watches but wanted to take a walk on the wild side but stay classic. I like the steel band but would get a few croc straps too.Anything I should watch out for from a model stand point or year of build.Much thanksJimmy
I decided to take a trip down to my local AD today this morning prior to the reveal of the new models. The AD has changed the rules on the waiting list and will only add you to the list for a particular piece if you arrive in the shop in person. They decided to change the rules today and not take phone reservations. So i sat in the shop whilst Rolex updated their website. I added my name to the list for the gmt pepsi steel at no 1Then the phone started ringing and did not stop. I left the shop to grab a snack and called back in 25 min later to see if the phone had stopped ringing. It had not . If they had taken all the phone reservations they estimated the list would have been about 12 years for their stores allocation.Rolex looks as though they may have hit a home run......
BAM! Old school Run-D.M.C. kind of cool and blue in my 16618.. the play between gold and sunburst blue is pretty magical here :-)Some have asked for detailed shots..Thanks for looking :-)
