It is not that I am an Exchange and the pauperization of the only "simple" watches, it is preferred that I did like to deal with a dial and directly get dispersed. When I first started researching it, I found VERY little on any of the watch boards and even less on the net. It has been discontinued for several years which would explain part of the scarcity now. I was lucky enough to have my AD get the last one in stock from Omega USA. I am wondering if Omega simply didn't make many or if it just wasn't that popular of model. It is fairly pricey compared to the regular SMP Chronos but I love it none the less. There were two versions made: the 2294.50 (mine) and an Americas cup version - 2294.52. The only real difference was the movement 3301 vs. 3303 (same thing but better finish on the 3303) and the "Americas Cup" writing or lack there of. Anyway, I guess I'm not really asking any questions here, just more sharing my thoughts and love of this piece. I always seem to get positive comments so here are a few gratuitous pictures. Winter 2012 - SOTC - Not So Picture Heavy..
Well, I've just about done it!! My quest to go down to just two watches has finally come to a conclusion! Tired of buying and flipping, it does feel rather liberating and I think I can finally spend a bit less time messing around with watch research and a bit more time on the things in life that actually matter! Now my two wearers are in place I think from now on I'll stick to buying the odd lower priced piece, just to have something to play with and photograph. So here they are. The iconic Lange Datograph is within my reach but I have to trade in my mint 5110P plus 10k cash. The Dato is in mint condition but 7+ years old and has not been serviced. My 5110P has been serviced by Patek 3 years ago. Thoughts?
