Returning to a place that is exciting, bold, and indeed still very new for one?is always a real eye-opener 每?in September 2014, I had my first opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and as such, for the?first time, as well, to discover?its peerless host city. Exactly one year later, I?was eager to return and to see for myself, now with a more trained and critical eye, what had changed over the last 12 months. Because we are watches-dealer, I will save my remarks regarding the wonderful city of Hong Kong for the time when I launch my travel blog 每 but only after?I have grown three extra heads and pairs of hands to be able to see to all the watch-related stuff?that is of much higher priority. Okay, so I deal in watches on a part time basis, and I too marvel at a watch that is literally brand-new, in the box, every tag, paper, bit of plastic still on But I often think that if you have such a watch and if you intend to keep it that way- never wear it. Don't even display it. Because no matter how careful you are- a trained eye can tell if its been worn or touched. Its like I tell my dad (a fellow WIS and car enthusiast) when we see a revered car with zero miles on the clock "Sure it's nice, but what are you going to do with it? You can't drive it at this point..." So a person comes in to pick up a new watch. Seemed like a nice enough guy- so, I asked to see his Sub. He took it off his wrist and happily gave it to me. Beautiful Sub, but I honestly felt embarrassed for him. He kept every bit of plastic on it. I mean, not just the case plastic (which I'll admit, I did for the first two weeks I got my GMT Master II) every piece of plastic! It was disgusting! Because if you
SorryI was a little bored BTW, I saw the WTF ad on one of the watch mags. It put grin on my face while reading at Barnes and Noble. :D
Hi everyone. I am on vacation outside the US and I may have gotten extremely lucky. I stumbled upon a Patek AD and enquirer about the blue 5711 I've been looking for and the salesperson told me if I was serious they were getting one tomorrow and I could have it! So obviously I want to jump on this but I am concerned about the duties bringing it into the US. If I do this I'm not interested in breaking any laws, I will declare the full value of the watch to customs. I am trying to figure out how much the duties will be but I can't figure it out based on anything I've read online. I've seen figures quoted from 4-10%. Does anyone have experience with this or know what the duty is likely to be? Thanks in advanceSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Grail was delivered yesterday wearing an Ice Blue face spattered with diamonds. I opened the box expecting to view a brilliant blue dial; however, what I saw was a subtle hue, almost silver, that changes with the light. Although the watch is stunning, I was disheartened because I’d hoped for a deeper blue. I read the thread on the different Ice Blue colors, https://.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=402229, but the muted tone was unexpected. Yet, as I sat with it, absorbing its heft on my wrist, watching the diamonds’ vivacity under the light, the dial came alive in the most subtle, seductive way. I am smitten and trust that you will be too.https://drive.google/file/d/1Wvv...ew?usp=sharing
