Emporio Armani AR2482 wrist watches news:
The Dodane Type 23 has opened my eyes: The world of watchmaking is vaster than the billboards and glossy magazine articles might have us believe. When you think about visiting a fair like Baselworld, the big names instantly pop into your mind: Rolex, Breitling, Omega, PatekBut there is another treat in store ¨C the joy of unearthing a brand you know little about and getting the chance to learn more.Dodane is a French company based in Chatillon le Duc. The family-owned brand, founded in 1857, is currently in the hands of the fifth generation and is remaining true to its long involvement with aviation with its wave of new releases. The Dodane Type 23 is a model designed with practical use in mind and is the civilian variant of a model used by the French?air force.Baselworld 2015 sees the launch of five new models from Dodane. Although similar in silhouette (the cases measure 42.5mm in width), each one offers a distinctive style, inferring the trends and quirks of other, more mainstream br
Hey guys!I've been crazy busy lately finishing my book, getting married, moving and working on watches so I have not been posting much.Right now I'm Back in Black! (Thanks AC/DC)I've been working on several black enamel dial Elgin Trench Watches and Waltham Trench Watches lately!1918 Elgin, Black Star Dial, Sterling Silver Fahys Cushion Trench with an Integrated Shrapnel Guard, August 1918 date stamped dial.1918 Elgin, Black Star Dial, Semi-Hermetic Sterling Silver Fahys Case with the Coin Edge Bezel, May 1918 date stamped dial.1914 Waltham, Black & Golden enamel dial, 9k solid gold Dennison Trench Case, BIG size 0s.1916 Elgin, Black & Golden enamel dial, 10k gold filled Wadsworth Trench Case, BIG size 0s. Now, the black & golden dial Waltham is pretty nice but not what I would call very rare, if you search very hard you might be able to find 2-3 of these per year. But, the black & golden dial Elgin is off of the charts rare, this is a SIZE 0s enamel black dial Elgin and
It seems to me that I don't read much about Waltham wristwatches very much around here, or anywhere for that matter .....but for some reason, I am under the impression that it was quite a good brand of watches in the heyday of American watches ........Does anyone here collect Walthams or stumble across some interesting ones now and then ......what about the movements they used ? good ones ? Was it an innovative company ? How are they thought of as far as quality goes ? ........I would post a photo or two of a couple of mine, however photobucket is working on their site and my photos are unavailable for now ......
The 23-300 is obviously a manual wind caliber and on my 2593 the crown is so small and also a bit recessed in the case that is is quite hard to wind. Hence I usually only wind it a few turns just to keep it running. A few times I have tried to wind it fully though but I always have to stop as my fingers get numb (it also takes quite a force to wind). I have wound it as much as it should be fully wound comparing to other calibers but the spring does not tighten. Does the 23-300 have an overwind protection that makes the mainspring slip in the barrel like automatic movements have?
