Audemars Piguet 26170ST.OO.D091CR.01 wrist watches news:
I just noticed on the vintage Ventura I bought the band is 18mm and looked somewhat jammed into the watch lugs. It doesn't bother the fit on my wrist.Should I be quick to replace it with a proper 17mm band to prevent wear/stress on the lugs (14k white gold)? FWIW, it's a black leather band that works well with the watch, and I be inclined to keep the band if there's no concern with that tight fit.
Last night I went to manually wind the watch and while turning the crown I felt it slip and next moment it was just clicking while turning the crown. Very disappointed and so far this watch has had some internal part break about every 3 years. I don't know if it is these base 2824's that get mass assembly or this particular watch is break prone. My Hamilton Navy GMT, the wife's Ball with 2824 have broken within the warranty period. Our bad luck?
My employer has a nice five-year anniversary program in which we get a credit and a pre-negotiated discount at the local Tourneau for a nice watch. I've been lurking on the watch forums and reading "Wrist Watch Annual 2008" for a couple months now, and I'm currently leaning towards IWC, despite their unfortunately high prices. A coworker has a titanium AquaTimer Chronograph, and I really like it. But then lately I've been admiring pictures of the Classic Pilot Chronograph, so now I'm uncertain again. And of course there are other brands vying for my attention, including Omega (Seamaster 300M Chrono), Mont Blanc (Timewalker Chrono), and Ebel (1911 Discovery). My only requirement at this point is that I want a chronograph with a date display, with day+date preferred. I'm a fan of bracelets, though some of the bands do look pretty nice. While I have been known to SCUBA dive, I have no intention of actually diving with any of these watches, so actual dive worthiness isn't a factor. I
I bought a Cannon Rebel XSi and am going out today to find a macro lense for her. More and better pictures hopefully to follow.
How many 2254.50 owners are there on TRF? Post your pics! Here's mine! The bracelet was starting to look a bit worn so I replaced it with a nato strap. I think it looks really great now.
