Audemars Piguet 15203PT.OO.1240PT.01 wrist watches news:
Patek Philippe is a star among watch makers. Almost like a higher class Rolex, Patek stays high among the uber-elite, and sneers down upon the lower classes of watches and people. This is where you get the sales people who treat you like your father cleaned their father's bathrooms. Regardless of their attitude, Patek Philippe is an innovator in the watch world, and they helped further the movement to bring back the mechanical watch when quartz watches looked to be taking over in the 1980s. Today Patek Philippe is among those watch makers who have a reputation for ultra-high quality watches whose value can actually increase overtime.Their latest foray is the Reference 5960P, the "P" standing for platinum. This is an innovative piece because it the first of it's type for Patek as an in-house monochronograh ("monocounter" chronograph). This means the chronograph time elapsation windows are within each other for the minutes and hours. The seconds hand for the chronograph is on the main di

After drooling over everyone else's 'lume-shots' I decided to have a go myself. Slight twist here as I'm also activating the back-light.First attempttoo dark.Second attemptbetter, but camera was moving too much despite using a mini-tripod, because of the low shutter speed. And now, using the self-timer, got it right. Apart from my hand in the shot, that is!Enjoy!Incidentally, the watch has the Zagg Invisible-shield installed on the crystal. You can't tell, certainly not from that photo and not by eye either, unless you look at the reflection of a window in the crystal, for example. As it's a mineral crystal I am less worried about scratching it now, and it will wipe clean of any fingerprints / marks using a micro-fibre cloth.
Just picked up this book "1001 Wristwatches" from the Bargain Bin at Barnes & Noble for only $12. It has examples of a lot of different brands and is divided by type (Chronograph, Diver, Aviator, GMT, Tourbillon, Calendar, Repeater etc.) and at almost 300 pages in hardcover it's a pretty good deal.
The re-introduction of Lemania based movement watches, the grail for many, didn't sit well with many collectors including myself. What's your take on the move from Patek?Ref. 3970Ref. 5070Ref. 5970Ref. 5971Ref. 3940Thank god the Ref. 5004 wasn't touched :)
