Baume & Mercier M0A08747 wrist watches news:
One of the most interesting watches made by Patek Philippe during the middle of last century are those that we can call "Amagnetic." These rare references feature additional inner case backs, and in some cases, anti-magnetic escapement components such as solid gold or beryllium to ensure the timekeeping was not affected by any magnetism in close proximity to the watch. Now you might be thinking "hey, that's just like the Rolex Milgauss!" and you're right. It's also a lot like IWC's Ingenieur, and JLC's Geophysic. You see, the Amagnetic Pateks were really the great manufactures first and only foray into what we often call "tool" watches. 2 OF 3 And while the Amagnetic Pateks (3417 in steel, 2570 in gold) have always had a cult following, we've seen an increased interest in them by a whole new breed of buyers in the past years. We thought we had seen results hit fever pitch when last December, a 3417 sold for almost $50,
When a Hamilton is a Howard . . .We all know that Hamilton purchased the Illinois Watch Company, but what is less known was Hamilton's purchase of another prominent watch company - the E. Howard Watch Company, the makers of the famous E. Howard and Howard pocket watches.E. Howard was known to make some of the finest American pocket watches of their era. In fact Howard pocket watches were very much respected by the Swiss as the "finest in mechanical timepieces." Hamilton recognized this as well and in 1931, three years after the purchase of the Illinois Watch Company in 1928, Hamilton purchased the goodwill and trademarks of the E. Howard Watch Company.Interestingly, Howard never made a regular production "wristwatch" so it is a double oddity that Hamilton would do just that, make a "Hamilton/Howard" wristwatch. Although never active in the manufacture of "Howard" watches, Hamilton did produce a very small quantity under the "Howard" brand name and conducted tests in the market for t
Excuse me if this has been asked before but, Do you really use your chronograph for anything other then looking cool on your wrist? If you do use it what for?Sometimes for a giggle when I'm driving down the highway and there are test mile markers I'll use mine to test the acuracy of the speedo on my trusty Subaru or my TR6 (which is off by a couple of miles).Does anyone make a chronograph that calculates furlongs per fortnight? = 1.663¡Á10-4 metres per second
I love my 572. At 45 mm the fit is great, looks spectacular on the wrist and great lume too! The automatic movement, the new P.4000 is amazingly accurate, the micro rotor design seems very robust ! Notice it's just after 5 o'clock ! Cheers !
Do you think they will give us a little more on which to salivate or was the jubilee all that we will get?
