Side-by-Side: Sinn 556i, Archimede Outdoor Protect and Damasko DA36
Within the last couple of months I've had the pleasure of reviewing the Sinn 556i and the Archimede Outdoor Protect. We also have a review of the Damasko DA36 Black in the works. All three are "entry-level" German-made tool watches with nimble cases built for active lifestyles that are still office appropriate. One is a cult favorite, being well regarded by all who own or handle it, one has sort of gone under the radar, but is due its day in the sun, and the last has a strong cult following. Two are a bit more expensive, the other a hard-to-beat value. One is a bit more stylish, one a bit bland and the other sort of in between. Incoming bronze
I have been eyeing off bronze divers for a while and had a few discussions with other members about them and differnt brands offerings. I came close a few times, and for a a while was eyeing off the Olivier Bronze Diver. But after seeing Scott's Helson I decided that it was the one to go for. Luckily Helson had an extra release, as they had been sold of out of a previous run, so I went ahead and grabbed a bronze diver with brown dial and bezel.It is a great rugged looking watch. I like the dial and bezel colour, it gives it a bit of a softer feel (although noone could accuse it of being a soft watch!). Unlike Scott I quite like the tough looking rubber strap that it came on. I will likely get a vintage looking leather strap down the track, but for now am happy with it on the rubber.It's a pity its winter here so it wont get any sea action, but I guess it will get a slower gentler patina as a result. It will be interesting to watch.

AP Diver gained 12 seconds in 24 hours
I just got my AP diver back from the service center last week. I sent it in because it was gaining 15-17 seconds per day. I just checked today and it gained 12 seconds in 24 hours. This seems like a lot for a watch that was just serviced. Is this normal?

Forgive the length of my first (!) post, it's been a long time in the making:After years and years of wandering through the hinterland of watch collecting, I have finally decided to jump into the deep end of the pool. I, like many here on this forum, have been through more watches than I care to count, yet few have held my interest for long. My biggest issue has been comfort -- I cannot wear a watch, no matter how iconic or desirable, that doesn't feel like it disappears on my wrist. I bought a SubC, sold it in a few months. I'e been through the big watch phase of Bell&Ross and Panerai, only to be disappointed. I found an AP 15300, but the bracelet, although beautiful, just didn't work for me and it, too, was sold. On a whim, I tried on a white 5711 at my local AD (more than I thought I'd ever actually spend, but we know how that goes¡­) and was struck by the slinky bracelet and lightness of the watch, which fit like a glove.
