Alpina Celebrates Sebring Partnership With 12 Hours of Sebring Automatic Chrono GMT
After a successful cooperation in 2009, Alpina Gen¨¨ve and Sebring International Raceway will unite again this year for the 58th edition of the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring race with Alpina serving as Official Timekeeper for the event, scheduled for March 17-20 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. To celebrate the partnership, Alpina will introduce a new limited edition: the Alpina 12 Hours of Sebring Automatic Chrono GMT. This timepiece is also the first edition within the new Alpina Racing Collection. With a generous diameter of 47mm, the matte black stainless steel watch features a black dial with red and silver elements. The raised white and luminous indexes ensure visibility, even during the nighttime hours of the race. The chronograph features a 12-hour counter in the lower half of the dial. SS vs TT
Any thoughts on SS vs TT in Rolexes? Personnally, I tend to think that most watches, particularly Rolex watches, that look good in steel would look better with a little gold. Not just for the bling, just because it looks better to me! One specific example is the Daytona, which I think looks like an overused faddish fashionista bling-bling status symbol in SS, where the TT, again, it's only my opinion, looks classier, and a less peer-pressure induced purchase. What do yall think?J

Enjoy!Best, Ike"As some of you know, I collect mainly vintage watches prior to 1950, however within my collection I fell in love and also collected (modern) Dubey and Schaldenbrand watches. Dubey and Schaldenbrand was founded in 1946 as G.Dubey. Georges Dubey, was professor of complicated horology at the Technicum in La Chax de Fonds. In 1946 he had been joined by Rene Schaldenbrand who had been head of production of complicated watches and had designed/developed an economical fly-back seconds watch.So both men were, outstanding Horologists.They decided to start limited production of a split-seconds fly-back chronograph (Rattrapante) at an economical price.They chose the name 'Index-Mobile'In 1946, they were granted Swiss patent No. 253051, and in 1951 they received US patent No. 2548101.To quote from the USA
