Armin Strom Gravity Date Watches Of All Four Elements
The Gravity line of watches by Armin Strom is something that we have discussed before:?I wrote about the Gravity Date Tourbillon here?and Ariel did a hands-on article about the time-only Gravity Fire here. But rest assured, this time we have gravitated toward this line again?for two good reasons:?first, we are talking about a different and, relatively speaking, more affordable watch than the tourbillon, and yet a bit more complex than the Gravity Fire. Secondly, I would like to share what I learned about the details of the more unusual design code of the brand.I recently had a chance to sit down with Claude Greisler, Armin Strom's Director of Horology and gain some insight into why they create things the way they do. As we have discussed in the past, large portions of the design language comes from the direction set by the brand's namesake founder over 40 years ago. New Incoming Citizen From Japan.....
Earlier this week, I pulled the trigger on this gorgeous JDM Citizen Attesa "Jet Setter" series ATV53-3022 with the U680 radio controlled movement:The Eco-Drive movement caliber U680 in this watch can sync in the USA, Japan, Europe (Germany's DCF-77 signal) and China. Its got a 3.5 year power reserve (In power save mode), world time for 44 cities, automatic adjustment for daytime savings light (or summer time), 2 alarms, countdown timer, 24 hour chronograph, LCD display backlight, lumed hands and dial markers etc.This Attesa features full Duratect Titanium construction and sapphire crystal with AR coating (Not clear yet if it has dual AR coating).Another feature I love about this watch is the ability to adjust the clasp on the fly like a Rolex. If your wrist gets swollen during the day, all you have to do is take off the watch, press the 2 clasp release push buttons and adjust the clasp micro adjustment and you are done! from time magazine:It looked like a send-up of a Timex-watch commercial. In the parking lot of the U.S. federal building in West Los Angeles, an eight-ton steamroller moved back and forth over a pavement strewn with more than 4,000 wristwatches. Yet, when the torture stopped, not a watch was ticking.Thus went Operation Big Crunch, endorsed by none other than the august French jewelry firm of Cartier. The stunt was aimed at discouraging the lucrative rip-off of luxury goods through counterfeiting. The crushed timepieces, which will go on display in Cartier stores around the world, were phony renditions of the company's famous $650 Tank watch. They were nabbed en route from Zurich to Tijuana by alert U.S. Customs inspectors. Once in Mexico, the fakes could have been sold for $300 to $400 each.

A question for "Past" Deep Sea Owners...
I remember seeing a Deep Sea at an AD when it first came out...I thought it was a super looking watch...!!!Tried it on, but found it to be to thick...and I have an 8 wrist...Now I know that To Thick is a relative term and it's all personal preference...And I only had the watch on for a few moments...But I saw someone wearing one today and it looked so good...And not over the top at all...So I am just curious to hear the comments of people who have owned and worn them on a regular basis for a while...but ended up selling them...
