Baume & Mercier MOAO8758 wrist watches news:
We felt as though it was time to cover an interesting model and brand not yet discussed on watches-dealer. Mostly known as a sunglasses maker, Oakley also has a rather interesting line of high-end as well as affordable watches. They are also one of the first big-name US brands to enter the "not cheap crap" watch market. I believe it was about 1999 when the brand's now famous "Time Bomb" watch was released. In 2009 they debuted the Time Bomb II watch as a follow-up to the original.Mixing a Swiss-made automatic movement and a uniquely designed case, the point of the Time Bomb II was to be original as well as useful enough for daily wear. The Time Bomb II exists in Oakley's "Elite" collection of products which are its highest-end items which tend to be pretty cool. Good materials and a lot of engineering seems to connect all the Elite products together. The design of the watch is quite unique and reminds me of something an American who grew up watching Japanese cartoons would design. Tom started a thread the other day on the Illinois Atlantic Enameled called "What's the skinny on this Illinois". With this in mind, here is another rather rare variation of the Atlantic. As discussed, the Atlantic was a case from the generic period, and as such it could just as easily contain a Elgin, Waltham or Illinois movement and dial. That said, I've seen I think 3 of this larger 2-tone Atlantic "Plus" (this is the term that Fred Friedberg has used to describe this variation), and all of them have contained Illinois movements and original dials, so I think it might have been an exclusive variation intended for (or perhaps even cased by) Illinois. The beveled bezel in combination with the beveled extended center piece looks great together. This variation is THE vintage watch for someone who prefers the size of a large modern watch, because it is HUGE! I have never seen a vintage watch that appears larger on the wrist. (Not even a 54mm Movado Polyplan or a 50mm Gruen Curvex, a
Guys, what are (or where can one find out) current Boutique Only AP watches? What about future (sneak preview) pieces? Thanks
Digging around in my parts box I found two 2500b, one 1120, and a couple 2892 a2 movements.I know all are derivatives of the 2892, Do many parts interchange? Can i drop off the pile to an expert and get a couple working movements? Assuming the needed parts are functional.I'd rather reclaim a couple instead of parting out the lot.
Just wondering how the 5146P would hold up, as a daily wearer? How does the platinum surface hold up? Is there really a difference in wear-and-tear of the mechanics wearing it daily vs. letting it sit (and run down), and adjusting it each time I want to wear it? or putting it on a winder? Feedback sought. Thank you.
