Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Dive Watches
A few months ago while with Maurice Lacroix at their manufacture I spent time with them going over small details on the prototype versions of these new Pontos S dive watches. We looked at little things like the polishes on the rings around subsidiary chronograph dials, colors, strap choices and other details on the dials. Going from idea, to computer design, to final product is challenging and requires a very close attention to even the little things. What I can say is that the best watch brands have product leads people who are both smart and highly independent when it comes to asserting changes to even small visual elements.While I have yet to see the final versions, I like how the Pontos S fits in the Maurice Lacroix product line-up. It is a solid design that actually mixes retro and modern looks smoothly. It is like a futuristic version of a retro sport watch. A couple of months ago I stumbled across 2 curious watches, the Junkers Bauhaus 6060 and the Graf Zeppelin Hindenburg LZ129 7060, during my usual scouring of stores for new and interesting watches. What stood out about these watches was their use of a modified Miyota 9100 movement, their interesting designs?and their relatively moderate price of $550.?At first, my eyes were locked on the Bauhaus 6060 watch, as it had elements of Max Bill design to it that are very appealing. So I wrote a piece about them, which you can read here, focused on the 6060, but touching on the Zeppelin LZ129. But after the post ran, I started to dwell on the watches and thought that something this unique really needed a hands-on to further explore the details and qualities of the watches. Though I initially was focused on the 6060, the Zeppelin LZ129 just began to call out to me as really unique watch, one that didn't just intrigue me intellectually, but rather as a watch that I could see owning myself.Case:

Hi all, I have 2 Pateks, Nautiluses, and considered, still do sometimes, getting a Jumbo.When I saw 2 AP in real, the 15400 and the SS skeleton watch, both felt very strange to me, very very light, even lighter than my 5712, which is quite a light watch.It seems I had a little negative opinion about AP, to be honest the watches didn't seem up to the quality that I expected or that I found in PP.The ceramic diver had a very good feel of very good quality, which I lacked to see in the 2 RO's, maybe I am wrong, I'm sure that I am, and it is great quality but I didn't feel it as with the diver or with a Patek.Can you tell me if for you quality in AP is clearly below PP, or equal, or maybe superior to some¡­I have yet to see the Jumbo in real but if it's built the same way as the 2 I saw, I suppose I will also have a problem with the impression of quality from it¡­Do some of you prefer AP to PP? Hi all - someone is offering me 90% of retail price for my 4 months no date sub. I was thinking I should sell now considering so much news of the 3235 version coming in July. What do you guys think? What would you do?
