Some of us have been discussing the possibility of an informal GTG on Saturday, December 13th.All brands are welcome!We know that this is a busy time of the year with last minute shopping, parties, family, etc., but let's take a break from the hustle and bustle to relax and talk watches.Let us know if you prefer a lunch or dinner meeting. The thought is that a luncheon would free up the evening for other seasonal activities.The GTG will probably be in the Atlanta metro area. Suggestions as to a location are welcomed.A topic for discussion will be the planning of a major GTG in the spring or summer.Your participation in the poll will be considered an indication that you intend to be present.Fr. Case Restoration Question(s)
Last month I was able to get hold of one of the rarer Elgin models from the 1950s. It's one of the ones where the back is held on by 4 screws, but the shape, and especially the movement are not often seen - the 19j 676. This movement appears to have been the last of the 15/0 movements, and is a sister to the 21j 675 in the Lord Elgin Townsman I posted about a couple months back.In a year of watching, I've seen maybe 3 of them on Ebay.No pics of the movement, sorry. I took it apart in a fit of Watch Mania before I was able to shoot it.Obviously, the dial needs redone - the markers are loose, and it's stained. The biggest problem, however, is the case. You see, of the 4 screw holes, 3 are completely stripped. When I got it, the back was not really firmly attached. There was a screw in one hole, a loose screw, and an epoxy-like substance at one or more of the other corners. No gasket, and the innards were all dusty.So, here's my problem - I want to fix this watch so I can wear it.

Just in Cornavin Dolphin
This branding of the Cornavin's Dolphin watches were manufactured during the late 1960’s to early 1970’s.At this time many watch manufactures were designing watches that looked more futuristic. This was done due to the space race and man landing on the moon. One company that went futuristic crazy was Rado. Rado also had a branding logo a horse. Many companies like Cornavin followed their example and stated making some innovated designs and they used the Dolphin as their branding logo. However I think their logo looks more like a Marlin or a Swordfish.This watch needed some care. It was running fast and I corrected that “used iPhone Kello app. it worked ok”. The case and the crystal were also scratched up. I’m going to use this watch as an example of a post on How to polish Stainless Steel and another post on polishing plastic watch crystals. These posts will be coming at a later time.The before images were taken off of the original eBay listing.

My mind is set, now where to get it?
So my mind is set on this seamaster 300m diver and I heard Omega is going boutique only, so the chance of getting good discount watches from either AD or grey is getting smaller as times go by. Therefore I have to act fast.So where would be a good place to get this watch? I would prefer AD if they can compete with grey's price. However, if I can get a bargain from grey seller, i wouldn't really mind.Btw, is this model still being produced? style number: 212.30.41.20.01.002Any input is greatly appreciated !

a bit concerned ...
Bought a Milgauss White Dial in an online auction yesterday. I was handed the watch which was a brand new 116400 V series from Client 548 (Israel). Under the Warranty card, it says it's from Eurasia LTd. Which is an authorized dealer in Israel.He went up with me to the RSC and had the watch checked up. Unfortunately since I took it to the RSC in Hong Kong, they said they needed another two weeks to verify the serial code since it was not 888. Well, I hope there aren't any problems. I mean they did take it behind closed doors and took half an hour in there. I wonder if that was the preliminary check up. The watch was brought back and said I needed to wait another 2 weeks. If there were problems with its authenticity, they would have told me straight away right?Also, I hope there are no legal issues with the watch either... being stolen or something like that. The watch was just brand new with all the stickers on the glass, the bracelets and even the black code on the left side of the ca
