Hamilton's film What Makes a Fine Watch Fine opens with a shot of a transparent watch, its gear train seemingly floating in air. Today we are used to seeing brands advertise their new watches with computer rendered animations that show the mechanics of a watch movement in amazing clarity. The absolutely crazy thing about that film, and the watch that it shows, is that it was shot in 1947. The watch is a unique version of Hamilton's model 992, with plates and bridges made from lucite. It comes from the collection of René Rondeau, a watchmaker, dealer and historian specializing in Hamilton watches. Seeing this watch in person is insane. Mr. Rondeau wrote an article about the watch in the May 2007 Horological Times, and the title really sums it up: The Ultimate Skeleton Watch. Thinking about getting a second Orient (Orange & Black just for you ULF)
Orient sent me a one-day-only coupon for 49% off so I'm thinking about picking up a second Orient to go with "The Tank" (CFDAC004W) that I've already got. I know that Alpha does a good job of making some god copycat versions of poluar highend watches. My question is what are your opinions? and do you have own any? feel free to post up some pics as well. I thought this would be a kinda fun thing to discuss.

Quick question - Have the PP's always come with the fancy wood-grained box? I've seen many in the traditional cardboard case with all paperwork; was wondering if the fancy box was relatively new or not. Mine came (from a trusted seller) with all paperwork and manuals but not the wood-grained box. Thanks!

Are all F series 16610lv's Flat Four's?
I am getting more familiar with the differences between the serial numbers on the 16610lv kermit and understand that the Y and F series have the Mk 1 dials with the oval O and 5 ticks as well as the Flat four bezels. My question is did all of the F series watches have the oval O and flat four or were these only the earlier ones and the later ones had the regular O and the pointed 4.
