Jacob & Co. JC-2 3.25 carat bezel wrist watches news:
Hi everybody,I'm new to the watch world but recently inherited an Omega Seamaster Titane and an old Rolex bubbleback from my late great uncle. The Omega has had the bracelet/band replaced and to date my aunt hasn't been able to find the original band. I was wondering if there's someplace that I should look for an original or at least "correct" replacement. I know this isn't the most popular model, but I might as well get the right band if I can find one. Also, is there any way to ID the exact vintage of this watch? I'm assuming it's 80's or 90's vintage but not sure. Thanks
and i am a happy man just received this Hamilton yesterday. Simply amazing and super watchalso changed the strap to a baby croc one.. :)
Hi, All...I just happened upon this forum and was pleased to see such a lot of vintage Hamilton fans! It is also nice to see The Dean, Ren¨¦ Rondeau, participating as well! I have been collecting Hamiltons since the early 1990s. In fact, my first was an electric from Ren¨¦, the "Victor". Ren¨¦ continues to be a great source of information (and watches) and I have learned a lot from him and his books.Hamilton watches truly had the finest movements of their day. I have a 1915 pocket watch from Hamilton that at the end of the day, hasn't lost a minute. At last count I am up to 77 pieces in my collection, with everything from an "Altair" to a "Wilshire". The "new" Hamiltons I have are re-issues and have been placeholders for the originals I hope to get somewhere along the line. Since I managed to get a really nice 1961 "Flight II" this week, I am going to put my quartz re-issue of it up on eBay soon. Now if I can only swing a 1928 "Piping Rock", his quartz nephew will be seeing eBay
Hamilton would occasionally reuse the same name for a completely different watch years or decades later. One name they reused was the Sherwood.Th original model was introduced in 1935. It was had a rectangular dial and was originally called the Seneca before it was changed in the catalogue. After a similar model was called the Sherwood in the 1940s Hamilton used the name in the 1960's for a new line with wood veneer dials. The 1935 and 1961 models can be seen by following the links. (Special thanks to Tom Diss for supplying the photos and infromation.)Sherwood (Seneca) Sherwood NSo which one do you prefer?
I've been admiring the new datejust 41. Now that all the pressure is on the ss sports models, is this the time to buy a DJ?Anyone bought a SS DJ with 18K bezel recently and scored a big discount?
