Swatch Group Chairman Nicolas G. Hayek Dies at Age 82
Swatch Group AG founder and chairman Nicolas Hayek died unexpectedly from heart failure at his office earlier today. He was 82.Hayek, a colorful entrepreneur and one of Switzerland’s leading businessmen, was credited with saving the Swiss watch industry. In a statement, Swatch Group said “With deep sadness and regret we inform you that Mr. Nicolas G. Hayek, Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors of The Swatch Group Ltd. unexpectedly passed away today due to heart failure during work at his beloved Swatch Group. Here's the latest on my SMP 2531.80 which has been running fast. The watchmaker at my AD said that there's some spring or something that coiled over or whatever and that was what was causing my watch to run erratic. He overhauled the watch and straightend out whatever the problem was and he also said the rate adjust levers tension was fine, nothing there to fix and that the watch is now keeping to +2 sec per day in all positions. He's keeping it a few more days and wearing it as well and then he's going to double check the accuracy on the winder and set it for 0 seconds +/-. He's done this before and it stayed right on the money for a long time. I explained to him what I do at work and he suspects what I'm doing is too violent and causes the problems I've had with the watch. I'm skeptical but there has been a few times where I've gone to set the watch down on a counter or a table at home and missed it completely and my SMP landed face down on tiled concrete. OUCH! Are there are watch collectors that get together in the St. Petersburg, FL area? I mean besides the annual Tampa GTG that I missed a few months ago (but attended the previous few years in a row).Doesn't have to be on the scale of a GTG or anything, just a few folks that get together.Dan

Date Complication Question
I was at a local AD today and I tried on the PO GoodPlanet GMT and I noticed the date wasn't centred in the date window. I asked the salesperson why that was and she said it slowly progresses as the time progresses. I asked her why it doesn't stay centred than do a tick to the next number at midnight and she wasn't sure. For some reason I didn't believe her. If she was right than the number would be half cutoff with the next number halfway into the window at the noon mark. That doesn't sound right. That doesn't sound right for a watch of that price with a great movement like the co-axial 8605.Was she right? I hope not
