Bell & Ross BR01-94-sr wrist watches news:
as i don't wear my breitling B1, i hadn't been too keen to change the battery when it ran down. but today i decided to bite the bullet and get it done. now, i've change many an aerospace battery, so the only thing preventing me changing the battery on my B1 was the case back with its anti-tamper feature. so, i entrusted this to my local watch bar, who assured me that they've done this many times with other breitling B1 watches. as such, i wasn't expecting any surprises. so, i go back to collect the watch and get told they couldn't do the battery change because the watch won't set-up properly. i'm a little mistified here. this watch hasn't exactly had a hard life. it was sold as never worn and i haven't worn it either. after a fair bit of discussion, i insisted they show me the problem. they claim the crown isn't working properly. now, i've seen this with the breitling aerospace, where it won't respond to being flicked or rolled. so, i think to myself, i've just not used it
Well folks, I have been back 1 week, and decided the time had come for another article on Horology.During my last days at NAWCC, I took time to wander round many of the old antique shops, looking 'not' to purchase anything, then I came across, the below, and I realized it was far too an important piece of Horology to miss.It is a picture and an article from an 1882 famous childrens newspaper called 'Chatterbox'. I had thought this was an American paper, but no, it was printed and published in London. It was very famous as -Chatterbox Weekly Children's Newspaper MagazineAnyway, this picture caught my eye as it showed a 'happy highlander' holding a pocket watch. Interesting I thought. Now, I think i know when first wrist watches were made, I know pocket watches reached mass market about 1840, so why this picture in a paper of 1882.OK, well before I relate to that, I want to explain. In 1893, Samuel Pepys wrote in his diary, that:"The Dutch East India Company introduced tea into Europe in
