Franken or not?
Let's get some opinions on this watch:It's obviously a replacement crown. The problem I have is that the 5 digit case reference numbers were converted to 6 digits sometime around '62 or '63, so why does this have a 5 digit reference and a movement from late 1965 or 1966? Also, the dial has the correct shaped "S" in Seamaster for a 14.70x series, but that should be an earlier series of caliber inside, like a 591 or 50x, correct?Franken with a replaced movement? Or something else that could be original? Let's hear your opinion.

Help dating vintage omega pre moon
I have a omega speedmaster with case # 145.012 , movement is a 321 and serial # starts with 265 . What I have found is that serial # is for 1968, but I thought in 1968 omega was using the 861 movement. I'm confused....so any info would be greatly appreciated. I found this watch in a storage unit I won at an auction. Also I'm sending it to USA watch service for cleaning and service so ill post pre and post photos when I get it back.

Monday Monday - Can't trust that day 8/29/11
Survived Irene - what a ton of water! Wasn't sure I'd be able to get to work today as every bridge was closed on my route as of yesterday.I'm wearing this Essex today. I got it a while back as a spare movement. Used it to fix another watch. Since yesterday's weather was so bad I just hung out in my shop and cleaned stuff up. I managed to cobble together a working 980 from a bunch of parts and voila!The back of this case is worn through - otherwise I'd be tempted to refinish the dial.

Short orange GMT hand in Explorer-2
Hi allGood afternoon. I own explorer 2 black dial and I love it. Was looking at the explorer 2 in Rolex website and noticed that the orange hand appears little shorter than what actually it is in real (picture included, with my watch on right).
