New Omega...of the vintage kind.
While watching the Beijing Olympics and seeing all the Omega timing devices and then looking down at my PO or SMP, whichever one I happened to be wearing at the moment, and then after reading Omega's history with timekeeping for the Olympics, I decided it was time to make another purchase.However, this one would not be a watch that I could alternate with my others to wear for a day or two. Rather, I decided to add a special part of Omega's history to my family. I searched the usual places; Google, eBay, SC on various forums, etc. Well I finally found it a few days ago and got it earlier this week. It is from the 1960's and came with the original box and warranty book. Here it is:Can you guess what it is?A Rattrapante stopwatch.My PO next to it to give you a comparison of the thickness.And now the unveiling of the "engine".As I said it came with the original warranty book.It is a chronometer. Difference between the 982 and the 982M
Is there some significant difference between the normal 982 caliber and the 982M used in the solid gold watches? OK, the 982M looks a bit better, it has a nice and stylish golden logo and the nickel plate seems to be better polished. But are there other things, which make it better than the others or is it pure cosmetic?

Experienced a whole new world of watches yesterday...
We were in The Palazzo and The Venetian shops in Las Vegas yesterday, and two stores just blew me away.The first had watches ranging from $3,000 to $500,000, and on occasion carries watches with a price tag of $1 million. These were in stock and on display, and not just a couple, either. I can't imagine the retail value of their inventory. They stock Bell and Ross (Tourbillon), Breguet, Bvlgari, Cartier, F. P. Journe, Glasshutte Original, Greubel Forsey, Harry Winston, Hautlence, IWC, Parmigiani Fleurier, Urwerk, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels, and possibly a couple of others. At that store, I tried on an IWC dual time, and got to hear an IWC minute repeater. Further to my post, regarding winding issue on my rubber clad.I decided to head of to London to drop the watch off.Walked from Paddington station to Hanover square.Better than taking the tube!Spoke to Alister, and he recommended a service and water proof/pressure test. Really friendly, and helpful.Anyway back to the subject, a service is around ¡ê880 which Is a couple of 100 more than Rolex charges.Hope I get a AP travel case!!!!As AP UK are moving to purpose built offices, my watch will be serviced in Switzerland. INCOMING! Omega Seamaster PO Blue LiquidMetal on Blue strap
Hey all,I've been wanting something sporty but elegant for a while with a rubber strap. After looking at a few different time pieces, my mind kept going back to the Omega Seamaster PO Liquid Metal on rubber strap in blue. Yesterday, I decided to pull the trigger on one after I left the office. I went to Jared, and I had a great experience. I also received Jared pricing. I don't really know how that compares to other ADs that sell Omega, but it seemed to be a pretty good discount from the MSRP listed on the watch - nearly $1,000 off of the MSRP. Any way, to my little rant regarding the watch itself.... When I think rubber strap, I don't think of the one on this watch. The rubber strap on this watch is durable, but also has a leather likeness to it. Needless to say it is very soft! The dial and bezel are absolutely amazing! In some lighting the blue looks very dull, but in others the blue is very vibrant. I really like it, because it's different every where you go. I also like the style
