Grieb & Benzinger Presents Unique “Blue Whirlwind” Tourbillon Minute Repeater
The German watch firm Grieb & Benzinger, known for its one-of-a-kind skeletonized watches with intricate guilloch¨¦ embellishments, has released its latest, called Blue Whirlwind, a skeletonized tourbillon minute repeater based on a rare Patek Philippe caliber.At the heart of Grieb & Benzinger’s Blue Whirlwind is Patek Philippe’s Caliber RTO 27 PS, a rare, manual-winding movement with a tourbillon and minute repeater mechanism, which was famously used in the stainless-steel Patek Philippe Ref. 3939 donated to the 2011 Only Watch Auction. That watch was the top-selling lot in the entire auction, selling for 1.4 million euros. Here, this complicated movement has undergone more than 15 months of skeletonization and other painstakingly precise horological work. On The Media's TLDR Explains Swatch Internet Time
Back in 1998, Swatch tried no small task: to fundamentally change how we track time around the world. The idea was called ".beat time" and "internet time," and was supposed to simplify communicating across the world in the age of the internet by doing away with timezones and small units like seconds, instead dividing the day into 1000 event units. The experiment has been largely forgotten, but NPR's blog and podcast TLDR decided to take a closer look into why .beat time was born in the first place and why we're not all wearing .beat watches today. This is definitely worth a read and a listen.The basics are pretty straightforward: with internet time, the only units are "beats" and there are 1000 even beats in one day. This makes each beat a little shorter than a minute and a half (1 minute 26.4 seconds to be precise). They record time after midnight, so the @950 time shown on the watch above is equivalent to exactly 10:48pm at the Swatch headquarter

A little experiment with the 8-days
A little experiment : In order to test the power reserve of my 2 Panerai's with the 8 days movement, I wounded both on Sunday Feb 14th. At 8pm both were fully fully wounded and I put them away without wearing. This morning both watches stopped and apparently the acclaimed 8 days movement is in fact a 10 days movement.
