What do you guys think? Is Omega still the same bang for the buck it was 2 years ago? No price increase is going to lessen my love for the Seamaster line, but unfortunately it looks like it's pre-loved from here on out. I can still swing one of the 1128 movement models (GMT, 2254) at a new discounted or grey price, but that's about it. I understand Omega is trying to move up a tier, but how is gonna affect all of us "Joe the Plumbers"? Anybody still buying new these days? - David
Does anyone have any thoughts about this Perry up for auction from a private seller on e-bay?Hamilton 2 Tone Gold 1933 Perry Tonneau Barrel Watch - eBay (item 330481294594 end time Oct-12-10 17:43:37 PDT)Photo's show a restored case with a white gold-filled bezel and green gold-filled case. But in prior discussions in this forum, it seems there are really no tu-tone cases from the 20's and 30's, with the exception of perhaps the Barrel?Could the case have been re-plated with green gold-fill and the bezel left with white gold-fill? I'm interested in buying my first watch box. I currently have only four watches but I plan on buying a few more after the holidays, so a box that holds 10 is ideal. Can any of you recommend a box manufacturer? I saw some affordable Tech Swiss boxes on Amazon but I wasn't sure how durable they are.
As most of you know it's been a long road since I sent my watch in for repair to the APSC in Clearwater. Many of you followed the saga and aware of the long story and drama around it. For those of you that didn't read about it, here's a quick and simple drama-free recap: At the beginning of February 2012 I sent my watch to APSC Clearwater and they quoted me a very crazy amount for the service ($4800). After a ton of drama, I asked them to send the piece directly to Le Brassus for a new estimate and potential repair directly in Switzerland. Fast forward to April 2012, I received a decent estimate on the service ($2800) and proceeded to get the service done directly by Le Brassus. My 5402SA is from 1976-1977 and is from the first batch of TT Royal Oak Jumbos ever made. My serial is under 300. We are talking here about a highly collectable and desirable Royal Oak. Due to the age of the watch and multiple owners outside of me, the watch needed a major movement overhaul, a new dial (old dia
After wandering the backstreets of independent makers like FPJ, Ferrier, and Moser, I've returned to the old reliable, and in my humble opinion, still the standard setter. I admit to being a little blas¨¦ about my 5205 and 5167 for a while now. But I think they just needed some more wrist-time as I've warmed considerably to the 5167 and am enjoying the 5205G again. So that lead me to pick up one my old desirables - the 5396G. Love it! Reminds me of one of my grails, the classic 3448, which sadly has increased in price over the years to quite ridiculous levels. Dressed it down on grey leather strap for now. Also, finally gave in to the Pam 47mm urge and picked a 424 no date. Black strap goes lovely with the polished case. 38mm and 47mm. Small and big delights!IMG_1295.jpgIMG_1300.jpgIMG_1302.jpg
