A Speedmaster Pro newbie question
From what I understand one of the differences between the 1861 and the 1863 in the sapphire sandwich is that the break in the 1861 is plastic and the break in the 1863 is metal. Is there any real drawback to the metal break? even though I have yet to try on the different models in person, I feel the sapphire sandwich is calling my name. My concern is giving up performance just so the movement will look prettier. Maybe I'm being to over analytical.Dave

Hello All,Last night I got a call from my trusted AD(Mayors) in Miami offering me a great deal on two watches they had just received.....a SS/Yellow gold Daytona with a White(more of a ivory) arabic dial with black subdials & red accents on subdial and a SS/Yellow gold submariner baby blue face with diamonds on the 1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11(total 8) hr markers!! To be honest they both bring a very big smile to my face! So please need imput on which one to choose before they offer it to someone else!RgdsEd

Are they better or worse than flat? Aesthetically I like them better, but are there any advantages to them such as strength or impact resistance. Uncoated they have a lot of glare issues but overall I would think the shape would lend itself to improved strength but I'm just not sure it's that's true.

Just looking at the 5711 bracelet......is that a take off of the Rolex Oyster bracelet design???Mighty close......who arrived first?Or was it a joint collaboration?Rolex and Patek have been known to jointly develop horological technology i.e. hair spring materials.
