Last week HODINKEE and Xavier Nolot (CEO of Audemars Piguet North America) hosted a private dinner for members of the company's board of directors, top Audemars Piguet clients, and HODINKEE readers to celebrate the launch of the new Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar 26574, which we announced here. Photographer and filmmaker Michael Benson created an astronomical-themed environment for the guests, using black and white imagery to create composite landscapes of the universe. hi all i'm new to this forum. i have been planning to get a watch and being a student, i have quite a tight budget, ard S$200. i've been looking through ebay for some nice watches and seiko watches appeal to me quite a lot. however, the prices on ebay are so much cheaper than those watch shops that i have gone to. this watch : "Sorry not a sponsor admin". from ebay would only cost me S$160 odd while a retail shop was selling it at a S$265! Although the retailer from ebay has loads of positive feedback i'm wondering if there's anything i am missing? like top-of-the-end counterfeits or scams or anything like that?would anyone who have bought from ebay stores enlighten me as to whether it is safe and whether these watches are genuine? i don't want to a bad experience getting my first "real" watch. Thanks in advance all! P.S. Anyone with good suggestions with watches that are within my budget pls kindly share it with me! (because my knowledge of watches is VERY limited) The watch i plan t

Breitling Navitimer / Rolex Submariner
A quick question for my fellow TRF'ers...A friend of mine has been bitten by watch fever after seeing and trying on my GMT-II and is looking at picking up a Breitling. He likes the larger case size, face color and recognizable Breitling dial. When he mentioned Breitling I immediately thought of one watch only, and that was the Navitimer, blue face. I then made a comment to him that the Navitimer was basically the Submariner of Breitling meaning that it was the one watch that in my opinion captured the spirit, history and essence of Breitling, the same way that I feel the Sub is the quintessencial Rolex. What do you all think? Is that consistent with what you think or am I WAY off base? Whenever I think Breitling, Navitimer just pops into my head. I'm anxious to hear what you have to say.
