A Bumpy day
I posted a thread in the General Forum but was asked by Bart to put this specific piece here. I wanted to diversify my vintage collection, and Omega was a brand I wanted. I love my recent Aqua Terra 2504.80 so it seemed like a logical choice. I have eyed a couple piepan Constellations, and saw one today in person that was incredible in solid gold and had all the original paperwork. Of course it was an incredible $4900 too. I liked the Melbourne Olympic commemorative from the 50's also, and even the reissues are sharp. Once again, I was not looking at spending several thousand dollars. If you read the G.F. post you can get the details, but I'll cut to the chase here:One block down from our city apartment is a small antiques venue with several different merchants. I picked up this 40's bumper today. I made a quick call to my watchmaker, and he told me a safe price range. With a little negotiating I was giving it a new home. I did a little research on-line and in a reference boo

just arrived...BIG Meihualu...vintage Chinese...
Well, okay, not that big, but huge and chunky for vintage Chinese......and I considered it a huge hole in my collection, so there's that :DMeihualu (deer? spot deer?) 17 zuan. 39mm width not counting crown; 34/35mm movement and the case is about 45mm lug to lug (so, a touch taller on my wrist than my 44mm M/Militaires).The back isn't the prettiest of the Chinese casebacks I've seen, and it's kinda scratched upbut that doesn't mean I'm not thrilled to have it ;-) Besides, I'll be more careful with it than the last owners, I bet.I don't know much about the movement except that evidently it's a pocket watch movement installed in a wristwatchwhich explains the size of the watch.Here's a wrist shot, just to show the size on my 6.5" wrist. Hi all, I have the opportunity to buy a 2004 Japan edition speed master.. Does anyone know the value of them I'm battling to find out any info.They only produced 2004 pieces in 2004 for the Japanese market it has almost the same dial as the Mark II dial.Thanks in advance
