The other day i stumbled onto this site while doing a search for illinois watch collector/repair. I must say i'm very impressed by the fact that there are so many Illinois collectors out there. I see FJF is out here - way to go Fred for keeping the Illy collecting alive i salute your efforts and stamina and appreciate the fact that you remain a market maker out here. To all other illy collectors hello! I started collecting Illnois and Hamiltons in the mid 90's and basically stopped until i opened up my safe the other day and realized my collection could use some fixing. I hope I can remember my password and contribute to the site from time to time. I could use a recommendation for a good american watchmaker to help w/ some work. Hello to all! Years ago I worked at a clock and watch shop
I was in high school at the time. I repaired electric and some mechanical clocks. This was in Kansas City. I always had a fascination with mechanical objects. Today, after going through the digitals, LED, quartz and so on I wear a selfwinding Seiko. I have several old pocket watches purchased at auctions and a Baylor chronograph wind up (I understand this was made from TAG parts) that I bought in 1970. I will sit back and look at posts and comment if I have anything worth while to add.

The diver day wrist check got me thinking...
What exactly constitutes a "diver"?Water resistance? But then what about the vintage divers with only 100m or so?And my Luminox is WR to 200m, but I wouldn't call it a diver...A timing bezel?But then what about watches with timing bezels that have no WR?Hmmm...
