Hey guys !I just finished up with a WWI GIANT Size 6s Elgin Trench Watch with an ILLINOIS CASE ! ! !I've had a few of the GIANT Size 6s Illinois Watch Case Company trench cases but in the past they have always had Swivel Lugs. This one has the SOLID LUG design ! ! ! ! ! This puppy is huge measuring 48mm lug to lug, 38mm without the crown with 14mm lug diameter. All of the Illinois 6s cases that I have had have always had 14mm lug diameters. This case also features a hinged case back which seems to be standard on size 6s Illinois trench cases (except for the UBER RARE semi-hermetic Illinois 6s case). The original movement in this Elgin was trashed, the wheels in the train were ALL bent.I tried to install a new train but it simply did not work so I used another 15 jewel size 6s Elgin movement. The back of the Elgin military dial that features BOLD Arabic numerals has been date stamped "11 - 17" for November 1917.The dial had hour marker lum dot holes drilled at the factory, a VERY NICE extra
Model Reference Number: H60419533Hi all. I received my Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Mechanical 42mm watch today!I don't have the time to write up a huge review, so here is my condensed version.-42mm, bead-blasted ss case with coin-edge-vintage Superluminova (very nice so far)-Gothic-type hour/minute hands-The 21mm stock hand-made German leather band is not my taste, though comfortable and very well made (already have replacement en route from Steinhart)-mvt is ETA 2801-2 manual-wind (center seconds). 28,800 bph, 8bps.-domed sapphire crystal, ss case back (screwed in (not down)).So far, I love the watch. It wears pretty regular as a 42mm (doesnt feel bigger or smaller). The case, imo, is perfectly thick. The slight dome to the crystal is just enough classy, as Hamilton always does it just right!I LOVE the hour/minute hands, so fancy! I also LOVE the font for the numbers on the dial (of which is a matte black which appears brown do to the refracted light off the brown all over the rest of t
Hello, I just had a Mido datoday serviced. When I got the watch it had a flat case gasket (fiber or lead?) that was badly deteriorated. The watchmaker returned it w/o a gasket, so I tried a flat rubber, but it catches and displaces then the back is screwed on. Any thoughts on where to get a correct gasket, or workarounds? Here is a picture:thank you!
Hi all, I have 2 Pateks, Nautiluses, and considered, still do sometimes, getting a Jumbo. When I saw 2 AP in real, the 15400 and the SS skeleton watch, both felt very strange to me, very very light, even lighter than my 5712, which is quite a light watch. It seems I had a little negative opinion about AP, to be honest the watches didn't seem up to the quality that I expected or that I found in PP.The ceramic diver had a very good feel of very good quality, which I lacked to see in the 2 RO's, maybe I am wrong, I'm sure that I am, and it is great quality but I didn't feel it as with the diver or with a Patek. Can you tell me if for you quality in AP is clearly below PP, or equal, or maybe superior to someˇI have yet to see the Jumbo in real but if it's built the same way as the 2 I saw, I suppose I will also have a problem with the impression of quality from itˇDo some of you prefer AP to PP? I'm not talking about sport watches as PP doesn't make any real sport watch IMO, whereas AP does a
