Longines HydroConquest question (from a new Longines owner)
Hi,I'm afraid I have a watch obsession (or so my wife tells me) so have a number of automatic watches. However, three or four weeks ago I purchased my first Longines, a black (non-chrono) HydroConquest. It was something of an impulse buy, but so far I'm very pleased with it, apart from one thing. I'm really not keen on the design of the crown. Aesthetically it looks fine, but to use I think it's a poor design. The smooth ring at the end makes it very difficult to grip properly. Add to that a movement which isn't the lightest to wind and it's not a pleasant experience.Something concerns me though and I wonder if you Longines experts have an opinion? On all my other watches with a screw-down crown, the action of unscrewing the crown to wind or set the time is very easy and smooth, like simply unscrewing a nut from a bolt (for want of a better analogy). On the Longines, as I unscrew the crown I get a faint clicking sound (and feel) as if the crown is engaged on a spring or other part of t

My first Swiss movement Accutron
The initial attraction of this M7 Swiss movement caliber 214 Bulova Accutron was the extensive use of lume on the dial at each hour and minute marker.(BTW the lum still glows brightly) The watch was listed as non working but the problem turned out to be a missing battery cover contact spring. Once replaced and a new battery inserted the watch started humming immediately! It is keeping excellent time, but because there is no service history it will soon be on the way to Bob Piker for service and crystal replacement.

I am hoping that some vintage Omega experts will chime in here. I am not really an Omega guy, so I would not know about this Sea Master. Is it even real? Looks to be quite old, but I am just guessing. Can anyone shed any light on this? It still runs, but will need some TLC. If you lightly shake it, you can here something in there moving.
