Finally, I got my Seamaster back in my hands. It belonged to my late father and wasn't running, had a cracked crystal and missing stem and crown, not to mention the degraded dial due to moisture from the stem tube being open. I think the decision to get it re-dialed and in black was a good one (I'm not selling it, so re-sale wasn't a consideration) even though it is a big no-no in the purist community. Plus, black and gold is an incredible combination, along with a new black leather strap. Now the bad. There is a piece of lint and some specs of dirt trapped under the crystal. Some visible with the nekked eye. The stem was rubbing against the case and binding, so I had to bend it to take out the wobble. He used a cheap, generic gold tone crown (watch is solid 14K). He buffed out the hands and didn't re-lume it, so It doesn't match the re-lume of the dial (was expecting new hands!). It loses 30 secs / day. So, to say the least, it was a sloppy job all around. I have many doubts between two watches that interest me. One is 1312 and the other is 904 (Due Line 42 mm). Can you help me decide?
Leaving for a convention with my wonderful girlfriend and we stopped by the AD before catching our flight. IĄŻll get right to it- it was between the DJ41 and new Airking, both just arrived from Rolex and hadnĄŻt even hit the case yet. I tried on the DJ41 jubilee and it just wasnĄŻt for me. I put on the Airking and she and the salesman both said thatĄŻs the one! ItĄŻs the first Rolex IĄŻve received as a gift and that makes it so much more enjoyable to wear. We let the AD hold the box until we get back and left straight for the Airport. What a way to kick off our trip!
