New Hammie Arrived on Time Monday!
I got home late, too late for pictures but the box I had been waiting for was home to greet me. Man, I love this watch! Many have posted some great pics of it but this is the first time I saw one "up close and personal".The design is 100% Americana and I love it.Well it is off to work again this morning. Hey guys !The Illinois folks don't have the market cornered on the Illinois Watch Case Company Octagon shaped cases any longer ! ! !It's not an Illinois Admiral Evans but an Elgin Octagon RED 12.I have been seriously hunting for one of these for at least 4 years now and I FINALLY got my hands on one a few days ago.It is a very common misconception that this Octagon case is exclusive for Illinois movements for the watch called the Admiral Evans.This case was available for Elgin, Waltham, Illinois and some Swiss movements but it is most commonly seen with an Illinois movement.This case had a couple of variations such as swivel lugs or regular fixed lugs and it was available in sterling silver, gold filled and 14k solid gold, some even had offset crowns. In my opinion the swivel lug versions are much more desirable!When I bought the watch a few days ago I knew that somebody had made a movement change, it had an incorrect 1925 Elgin size 3/0s installed with 7 jewels.So, I decided to put it

For those who, like me, don't know what am I speaking about, their site is Botta-Design - Produktgestaltung, Produktentwicklung und DesigneruhrenThey seem to have reasonable prices for their automatic watches (around 700,- Euros for a ETA 2824-2) but their site contains a lot of cheesy stuff, like the sentence that their watches are "Assembled by hand in traditional workshops in the Black Forest", I don't know what to think...GLF

I saw this for sale recently but was too slow with the trigger and it's been sold. I know jmsrolls (Fr. John) collects Speamasters (a few Seamasters made in October 1998 had Speedmaster) erroneously printed on the dials) but I hadn't seen a SS one before. This one is a 36mm 2501.21 model.
