An old Russian, worth saving?
This watch was picked up by my grandfather in-law on his travels many years ago. I don't know anything about the brand or watch, but like the look of the dial.Unfortunately, my father in-law thought he could fix it (he couldn't), and as a result of his tender ministrations, it will have to go to a watchmaker if I want it to run again...Here's how it looked after languishing in a drawer for years, complete with fake Rolex bracelet And the movement, in not so good condition (I do have the screw to hold the hairsping bit onto the movement, so that's something at least)After a polish of the crystal and case (and binning the faux bracelet), it looks like this - just needs the movement serviced/repaired....

Daytona vs DD40 - Bezel Scratching
Wanted to get peoples opinions of how easily bezels scratch interms of the PM Daytona models with PM bezels (non ceramic) VS fluted bezels of DD40 PM.I am I wrong in assuming that scratches and wear show up less on the PM fluted bezel given its construction but rather easily on the PM Daytona?Finally, owners of PT DD40....scratches and wear show up easily? But, I know that with PT you don't actually lose any metal when it scratches...it may look bad....but the PT metal isn't lost...its just moved.Thanks!.
