Got an Explorer.
I stopped by a local shop today just to have a look. The dealer was a Rolex AD amongst a bunch of other fine brands. I had no intention of buying a watch today but I walked out with this little Explorer. First Rolex ever, BTW.It's got that double clasp bracelet thingy.I found that the other models were simply too large for my wrist. I wouldn't be comfortable with the newer, larger style so many people wear today. I hope you'll agree that this fits my wrist perfectly.

Hello everyone! I just found this forum yesterday and have been going over the posts - great info and fun reading. A lot of very knowledgeable folks here on one of my favorite things - old Hamilton watches. I currently own a refurbed Dickens(runs and looks great - from the early 40's? I believe), an original Myron from late '30's(runs and looks good), a Forbes from early '50's(runs and looks good) and a Sutton from the late 30's that runs well but has a loose crystal and no band - it also has an incorrect second hand but I love it anyway! I'll be wearing that one soon. The Dickens, Myron and Forbes get worn regularly. My wife wears the Myron often. Just got my Omega PloProf
OK so I just noticed something very disturbing about myself, it seems the more I hate a watch the very first time I see it the more likely I will fall in love :roll: Hated Panerai==> obsessed with PaneraiHated Bell&Ross==> Had to get a Bell&RossHated the IWC BI Bracelet==> Had to get the BraceletAnd to add the list, I disliked the Omega PloProf, thought it was interesting but just could not pull the trigger as I thought I would never wear it. Hello there! I generally collect Rolex but I have a friend of mine offering a Patek ref. 96 black dialed with sub at 6 watch.I can snap pics next week if that helps. It seems like the dial as some wear/spotting but slight and the metal looks tarnished a tad.He is a very active vintage collector and he is offering me the watch for 3,000.I feel like this is a good investment piece/an important watch in the history of Patek.I am not sure how rare they are or if 3k for the slight wear is worth it? It looks like online they sell for 5-7k gold faced variants.One thing I did notice is that the crown was replaced, it looked like it fit OK but was obviously replaced along the way. The watch appears ot be 18k yellow gold. Any insight? The movement seemed to match what I saw online and was clean. The watch was running fine. I am attracted to Patek, more so as of late so perhaps this is a good segue into it? I know the gentleman really well so that helps. Thanks for any insight you can offer me. I
