Cartier W6700455 wrist watches news:
and after a 3 second delay, repeat transmission. I'll try to understand this time Cheers,Ron
Having just returned from the land of wretched excess (Vegas) and played with several 20K-plus IWCs, a nifty Patek, a sweet Blancpain 50 Fathoms and a Chopard (fine brand) as well as browsing the usual Omega, Rolex, etc., I'm wondering about timepiece pricing.First, let me say I understand any watch is worth what you are willing to pay for it. And willingness is a function of pocketbook. But I find myself wondering whether the DaVinci Perp Calendar from IWC - for example - is really worth 23K (as I recall) in precious metal. Or any other watch. Is The Lalo right? (I shudder to think this!!!!) Are the "big boys" ripping us all off?Is Invicta really the Robin Hood of the watch industry (if so should be spelled robbin')?While the IWC, Chopard et al. are very finely made, is there really that much difference from, say a Rolex or an Omega? How do you justify the prices (rare movements aside)?Either I'm slowly becoming sane or I'm missing something about the horological price structure.
I went in to the watch shop here in Melbourne Australia to pick up my RG 44mm 26400 H serial. It has the problem a few of you have also had being the minute hand advances (wiggles) about 20 - 30secs when the chrono is started or reset. The watch shop in Melbourne is the only place here who sell AP and they simply charged me about $300 USD to transport the watch to AP service Sydney Australia acting as the middle man. I went to pick it up yesterday and they explained to me that 'its better' and the way the movement is made it is normal for it to do it a little bit. Im not believing this for a $40k plus watch and don't see it happening on other ROO who share the same movement. I forgot to mention the watch is under warranty so the only cost to me is the postage. i am not satisfied with the fix and have told my watch shop to discuss it further with AP Sydney. My research and some of you on here with the same issue have had the movement fixed so mine should be as well. My question is what
Should I consider to trade my quit new Audemars P. 15300 (some years old) with the inhouse 3120 with a Patek P. 5196 (hand-w. cal.215, 12years old, good cond.)?Which one do you prefer to keep/own?Which one is more useful?COMPARISON:AP: Steel, special design, newer, new movement, date, autom., central second hand.PP: Gold, traditional design, older model, old movement, non-date, hand-w., sub second hand.
I'm currently on my hols in Malta. I dragged my wife to the local Patek AD in Valetta today and was surprised to see they had a 5235 in the window. I was actually going in to try the 5170 which was there but I don't think its for me. I was taken by the 5235 though, my only concern was it did look a bit big on my 6.75 wrist, but they could just because I'm used to 39mm.When I get back to the UK I'm on the look out to try the first generation ALS Datograph. Obviously these are very different watches, I already have the following 5167, 5711, 5146, 5396. What would you go for next The Regulator or The Datograph?
