In the world of affordable watches, there's a lot of variation in terms of design and concept, giving us lots of watches to be interested in, talk about and occasionally pursue for purchase. But within those watches, there is little variation in the mechanical movements driving them. Under $1,000 is dominated by Seiko and Miyota these days with the occasional Swiss or Chinese offering. Over $1,000 and you see the Swiss regulars, ETA and Sellita, with the occasional Soprod, and the rare in-house movement. Nothing wrong with any of them, but seeing the same movements over and over can get a bit stale, if only from my perspective as a reviewer.So, when I heard that a new brand called Ophion was using a TechnoTime movement I had never seen before, I was immediately very excited. Based out of Spain, Ophion decided to really do something interesting, manufacturing their watch in Germany, using a Swiss TechnoTime manual wound movement with a 5-day power reserve, and charging a remarkable 1,30

Took the GMT IIc & the family to Yosemite
We had a great time, the weather was cool and perfect for hiking and the water was flowing nicely.Here is Yosemite Falls (upper)Upper & LowerYosemite Falls (lower)Lower Falls with my wife(tiny wrist shot!)The rapids below the falls...no way am I putting watch in those, even though it would have been a great shot!We Went for a small hike towards El CapitanGetting closer!!!My wife stopped here, but I kept on goingI was a little concerned that I was going to scratch up my polished center links(Thats me in the blue)I had a great view of Half Domeand another view of Yosemite FallsThey grow some pretty big trees up here! (another tiny wrist shot!)Some more shots of the rapids!Probably my favorite place and picture on the trip...Mirror Lake, and you can see why!BTW, that really was not me climbing! Those guys/gals were nuts! It was snowing/raining and pretty windy...but I am sure they were having fun!~Scott
