Cartier WA503851 wrist watches news:
Fake watches are scary and plentiful, great original watches are beautiful but scarce – this is why we keep you up to speed in our weekly edition of Bring A Loupe. However, a weekly column isn't enough to flag all the offenders and we see countless bad watches sell each week. Sometimes, however, we see one that is so offensive, and in this case, so expensive, that we just have to dedicate an entire story to it here. A watch listed right here on eBay is supposed to be a rare Patek Philippe. It is, of course, not at all a Patek Philippe, but that doesn't prevent it from having a price of over $18,000 right now, with two more days to go.I will not only expose the parts that make this fake the worst buy you could ever make, but also the general attitude that I recommend having when hunting for a watch. My motto: only the paranoid make good collectors. When It Is Too Good To Be True Finding an amazing watch for a bargain is like looking for water in the desert: th
I found a relatively old DateJust on Craigs List, so I emailed the seller and asked how much he wanted for it. He responded "what is DateJust?" and then sent another email saying "if you mean the Rolex, $150".While I'd love to believe this is true, I have several bells going off in my head telling me its a fake, however I wanted to get a second opinion. I believe that anyone who asks for $150 for a Rolex is either inflicted with some kind of mental ailment or is selling a fake (most likely the latter). The thing that immediately caught my attention was the Cyclops, notice how the magnification seems to be 1.5x as opposed to the legitimate 2.5x, meaning that the guy who made this probably used a sticker rather than a glass magnifier as Rolex does. The band also appears to be a cheap imitation, however it could just be old. What do you guys think?EDIT: Just realized I have a typo in the title, its Houston, not Huston. Can one of the moderators fix this please?Note: I fixed it, but you can
At the behest of some guys in the Invicta Forum (Agent O, Foggy, Time2, Falcon, and Henn), I bring you this, post #1,000!I joined the WTF back on December 1st. I don't recall what brought me here, but I ended up here. Now, roughly 6-1/2 posts per day later, here I is. Before I found WTF, I used to tarry on aimlessly through the net; A camera forum here, a guitar forum there, maybe a politics forum (from which I'd often get banned) now and again. Now I find, though, that WTF is my first stop on the web.Since joining, my watch collection has grown, much as my camera and guitar collections would grow after joining those types of forums. Since 12/1/07, I've added an EL WTF LTD, an Invicta Aussie Pro Diver, two Invicta Times Square Autos (the second of which will be here later this week), an Omega Seamaster Professional, John's book on photography (which I haven't even read yet), two watch winders, and two hats (Oris and Invicta).I don't even wear hats.I've found some reputable online retail
Hi allMy son said to me today he would like a watch for his 18th in December, i would have around ?500 by thenWhat would you guys suggest as own an Omega PO and my son now has a good idea as to what a quality watch looks like but that would be way out of my price range i am drawn to Hamilton/seikoThanks Andrew
Hi All,I've never demagnetized a watch before so thought I'd start here to see what you all think.I purchased an inexpensive demagnetizer from eBay that I've seen others report success with. That said, I think it worked as when I run my vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille by a compass it doesn't move. That said, when I run the demagnetizer with the watch it causes the second hands to jump forward erratically...and sometimes it causes it to pause for a split second. Is this expected or normal...or could this perhaps be indicative of some other issue?
