Elgin"Legionnaire"?
I collect mostly Hamiltons. Recently, I've taken a liking to some of the Elgin models from the 20's and early 30's.Below is what I think is an Elgin Legionnaire that I just acquired (for $30.00).Serial number on movement seems to date it to 1928?Caseback seems to indicate case is Nickel.But I'm wondering with the nice engraved bezel front and sides, if the case is white gold-filled?Seems like a nice Art Deco watch. Needs an overhaul, crystal, and sub-seconds hand, which I will get done. If any one has any details on this watch, I'd appreciate it. thanksMark

My New Victorinox Ambassador Automatic
I just purchased my first "real" quality swiss automatic watch last week...a Victorinox Ambassador Model 24150 and I couldn't be happier. Fit and finish is much better than I expected. One notable feature is I really like the extra large crown. Some have found it too large and distracting, but it works for me because it's easy to grip and it makes a bold, visual statement aesthetically that's something like this: I'm here so wind me up!The first thing I did was test the accuracy over a period of 36 hours. I calibrated it with two quartz watches and my computer clock. All 4 were set to read exactly the same time (within a 1/2 second). During the test, I moved the watch in 4 different positions about every 8 to 10 hours and checking the time. Over the course of the first test, the watch gained about 6.5 seconds a day. I thought that was pretty good for a non chronometer. The second phase of my test was wearing it on my wrist for 36 hours straight (even while sleeping) knowing that my bod

Need help to identify my omega seamaster
I purchased this Omega Seamaster Pro 300. The Serial number is shown on the card and begins in the 49,000,000. From all the omega serial numbers I seen on the web, that puts the date of the watch in 1986. However researching the Omega Vintage Site, it looks to be from the 1993-1996 collection. Which corralates with the date on the warrenty card. The hang tag with movement show a 1109 caliber. The red dot on the case back has not been distured yet, so have not opened the case. Anyway, how come the serial number charts reference it as a 86 but it seems to be a 93-96?

Panerai upselling
Seems like Panerai is upselling their watches or at least the 424. The night view image on their website shows the train track surrounding the numbers lighting up in dark which is not the case. Not sure why they would do such a thing. Is it just to make it look cooler?azaku97
